Ontario Bringing new schools and renovations to Halton

Province Supporting Students and Families with New and Improved Facilities

Ontario is supporting families in Halton with two new schools, and three renovations that will provide a modern learning environment for students. In addition to the school renovations, there will be an addition 17 childcare rooms created through these projects. The following are the projects coming to Halton:

 

  • Bishop PF Reding CSS is receiving $18 million for a 609 pupil place addition to Bishop PF Reding Catholic Secondary in Milton, which will include a 4 room childcare for $2 million.
  • Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir will be receiving a 180 pupil place addition to ÉSC Sainte-Trinité in Oakville. The project will be receiving over $5.3 million
  • Oakville Northeast New Public School will receive approximately $16 million for a new school, as well as over $2.5 million for a new 5-room childcare in the Trafalgar area.
  • Oakville Northeast CES is receiving $1.5 million renovation of St. Michael Catholic Elementary, and an additional $1.5 million for a 3 room childcare.
  • Milton Southwest Public School will receive approximately $16 million for a new school, as well as over $2 million for a new 5-room childcare in the Wilmott area.

 

MPP Naidoo-Harris, MPP for Halton was at Bishop Reding Catholic Secondary School in Milton to announce that the province is investing over $65 Million in new schools and renovations in the Halton region. This is an exciting expansion, and will positively affect students and create an additional 289 childcare spaces throughout Halton

 

This is part of a new investment across the province to build 39 brand new schools and undertake 40 major renovations or additions that will include more than 2,700 licensed child care spaces for children aged 0-4, helping more families access safe and affordable child care closer to home.

 

Ontario's plan to create fairness and opportunity during this period of rapid economic change includes a higher minimum wage and better working conditions, free tuition for hundreds of thousands of students, easier access to affordable child care, and free prescription drugs for everyone under 25 through the biggest expansion of medicare in a generation.

QUICK FACTS

 

  • Ontario is investing more than $65 Million to help build 2 schools and renovate and expand an additional 3 schools in Halton. These projects will create 17 new licensed child care rooms.
  • In 2018, Ontario is investing $784 million in 79 new and renovated schools. This investment will also create a total of more than 2,700 new licensed child care spaces for children aged 0-4.
  • Since 2013, the government has invested $9.1 billion in capital funding for school boards to support more than 160 new schools and more than 460 additions and renovations.
  • Ontario is investing up to $1.6 billion in new capital funding over the next five years to support the creation of 45,000 new licensed child care spaces in schools, other public spaces and communities.
